Places to See in Kerala

  • Edakkal Caves –Edakkal means a stone in between. Edakkal caves are located in Wayanad. They are the beautiful formation of nature. These caves are famous for their ancient carvings and pictorial wall inscriptions.
  • Kowdiar Palace –Kowdiar Palace is located in Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram. This palace was the home of the late maharaja Sree Chithira Thirunal Bala Rama varma and his family. He is buried in the beautiful garden of this palace.
  • Peppara Wild Life Sanctuary– Peppara wildlife is 50km from Thiruvananthapuram and is composed of the dense forests. The total area of the sanctuary is 53 sq. kms. Several wildlife species like elephant, gaur, sambhar, king cobra, tiger, pied king fisher, panther are most commonly seen in this sanctuary.
  • Silent Valley National Park – This National Park is situated in the Western Ghats at 75km from Palghat. Silent Valley National Park is the beautiful gift of nature to mankind. One can find more than 100 species of butterflies and 400 species of moths. The park is rich in its wildlife spices like Panther, Wild Boar, Sambar, spotted deer, Nilgiri langur etc.
  • Dutch Palace/ Mattancherry Palace– Dutch Palace is also known as Mattancherry Palace. Mattancherry is 10 km from Ernakulam. Dutch palace was Built by the Portuguese in 1555 AD and was presented to the Veera Kerala Varma, Raja of Kochi. The entrance to the palace is through two arches which are typically Portuguese in character.
  • St. Francis Church – St. Francis Church was the first European church in Fort Kochi. Vasco da Gama was buries in this church. St. Francis church is one of the main tourist attractions in Fort Kochi
  • The Hill Palace Museum – The largest archaeological museum and Kerala’s first heritage museum, The Hill Palace Museum is 13Kms from Cochin. The Palace is surrounded by 52 acres of terraced land and its complex consists of 49 buildings.
